Francis Reller

Francis B. Reller, of Grand Forks, ND, 75, died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family Sunday, November 15, 2009. He was born on December 7, 1933 in Faribault, Minnesota to Stephen and Anna Reller. At a young age the family moved to Paynesville, Minnesota where he attended elementary school, and graduated from high school in 1952. He attended St. Johns University for a time and, in 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. His overseas assignments included Guam, Iceland, Vietnam and Christmas Island. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He married Marian Kurtz in 1959 at Patrick AFB, Florida. Upon retiring from the U S Air Force while stationed at Columbus AFB, Mississippi in 1974, the family moved to Grand Forks, ND and Francis was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until retiring in 1997. Upon retiring he worked part-time for the Alerus Center. He was deeply loved and will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marian; son: Stephen (Judy), daughter: Monica (Don), and Joel (Tristi), all of Grand Forks, and Jerome (Tami) of Bellevue, Washington; and his 11 grandchildren (Savannah, Zack, Mack, Katarina, Zane, Bryce, Mychael, McKenna, Brock, Lindsi and Jack). He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and a grandson, Jaeke. Mass of Christian Burial: will be Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, 1018 18th Avenue South, Grand Forks. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 18 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd Street, Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the mass in church. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks following the service with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force.
