Kasper "Kap" Eisenzimmer, 88, Grand Forks, passed away at Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center in Grand Forks on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Kap was born on July 14, 1921 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Leo and Johanna (Keller) Eisenzimmer. He grew up and attended school in Devils Lake and Knox, North Dakota. On his birthday in 1942, he married Evelyn Powers. Shortly after their marriage he entered the US Army and served his country until 1946, after which he became a member of the VFW and American Legion. Kap was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks. He started Eisenzimmer Construction Company in 1954 and continued this business until 1985, after which he and Evelyn retired to the good life, enjoying traveling, fishing, and their home in Arizona. Surviving family members include, Evelyn, his loving wife of 67 years; a son, Douglas (Joyce) Eisenzimmer, Erskine, MN; daughters, Elaine (Larry) Hadland, Grand Forks, and Gayle Bowen, Logan, UT; grandchildren, Kelly, Chris, Melissa, Karli, Rick, and Jay; and 4 great grandsons; Brothers, Joe and Ike (Evelyn), and a sister, Louise Purington. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, John and Leo Eisenzimmer; a sister, Betty Higgins; and an infant son, Gary. Funeral Liturgy: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation: one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery in the Spring, 2010. Memorials: are preferred to Valley Memorial Home Foundation, or the Alzheimers Association.
