Norma J. Ous

Norma Judith Haugen, 86, of Grand Forks, died January 28, 2010 while visiting in Allen, TX. Norma was born July 9, 1923, the daughter of Ole and Mathea (Nelson) Haugen of rural McIntosh, MN. She grew up and attended school in the McIntosh area. During WWII, she worked at the Ford Generator Plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Norma married Gerald (Bud) Ous on May 18, 1946, in Fosston, MN. They farmed in the McIntosh area until they moved to Grand Forks in 1956. She was a faithful member of University Lutheran Church since shortly after moving to Grand Forks. Norma enjoyed working in her garden and yard, walking for exercise, and being with her family and friends. Norma is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Bruce) Grundei of Allen, TX and Kimberlee (Scott) Brehm of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Scott (Heather), Melissa and Jerrod Grundei of Allen, TX, and Dallas Brehm of Maple Grove, MN; three great grandchildren; her sister, Minnie Smith, and sisters-in-law, Marion Carlson and Helen Haugen of McIntosh, MN; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brodigan of Red Wing, MN and Lois Ous of Crookston, MN; brother-in-law Arvid (Sherry) Ous of Gildford, MT; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Gerald; her parents; brothers, James, Lloyd, Clarence, Otto; sisters, Petra, Selma, and Orvilla.
