Sylvia M. Bossoletti, 85, Grand Forks, went peacefully with the Lord February 12, 2010. Sylvia Mae Land was born February 19, 1924, the daughter of Spener and Mable (Swenby) Land in Maple Bay, MN. Sylvia attended elementary school at Maple Bay. She later moved with her family to Northwood, ND where she graduated from high school. After high school she moved to Grand Forks where she attended Aaker's Business College. Sylvia married Paul M. Bossoletti on February 19, 1942 at Walla Walla, WA. They lived in several locations while Paul was serving in the military. After Paul's discharge from the Army, they lived in Brian, TX, Benton Harbor, MI, Pembina, ND, and eventually made their home at 1648 Riverside Dr. in Grand Forks. They lost their home of over forty years to the flood of 1997. Sylvia worked as a business secretary before settling in a career with JC Penney in downtown Grand Forks. Sylvia and Paul raised 4 children in their historical home on Riverside Dr., where she loved to work in her garden and was known for her fabulous cooking and baking. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of needlework and crafts. Sylvia was active in the DAV, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and held many offices in these organizations. She was a volunteer at the Altru Hospital Gift Shop. Sylvia was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters. Sylvia is survived by sisters, June Engen, CA, Phyllis Brannomen, CA, Sonia (Jim) Jarrett (MT); children, Tom Bossoletti (special friend Georgann Collins), Paulette (Dave) Stenseth, Mary Jo Bossoletti, and John Bossoletti; grandchildren, Steve (Jennifer) Stenseth, Tom (Tracy) Stenseth, Mitch (Kim) Stenseth, Kirissa (Larry) Iverson, Jo Marie (David) Pollock, Jim Stefanski, Anthony Bossoletti, Darryl( Jackie) Bossoletti, Denise Schoepke, and Jessica; 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents, Spener and Mable; an infant brother, Gordon Land; a sister, Avis Sullivan; grandson, Michael Stenseth, and son-in-law, David Stenseth. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 520 5th Ave N., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St, and for the hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks in the spring. Memorials: are preferred to St. Michael's Bridge Builders or the Alzheimers Association.
