Robert Kalis, 68, East Grand Forks, Minnesota died Thursday, February 18, 2010 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Robert Paul Kalis was born to Theodore and Angeline (Schwartz) Kalis on September 24, 1941 at Walhalla, North Dakota. He grew up and attended school at Walhalla. Robert served in the US Army. After his discharge from the military he lived in Arizona for a time before moving to East Grand Forks. He was employed locally by J.R. Simplot. Robert enjoyed football, baseball, NASCAR and deer hunting. He was also fond of his pet dog and cats. Robert is survived by twin sons, Jason Kalis of Breckenridge, MN, and Jerrod Kalis, East Grand Forks, son, Mitch Lajimodier, Grand Forks; 3 grandsons; brothers, Charles Kalis, Grand Forks, Richard (Ramona) Kalis, Osnabrock, ND, and Rodney Kalis, Langdon, ND; sisters, Patricia (Larry) Graveline, Grand Forks, and Lorraine Rude, Langdon, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Angie and Elizabeth; and nephews, Kody and Shaun. Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 520 5th Ave N., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Thursday, February 25 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St, and for the hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks in the spring.
