Orville Duane Carlson

Orville D. "Ozzie" Carlson, 81, of Gilby, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Orville was born April 23th, 1928 in Fargo, ND the son of Andrew and Dorothy Carlson. He attended grade school at Honeyford, ND, high school in Gilby, ND and NDSU Ag school in Fargo. Orville farmed with his father near Honeyford, and then on his own until 1977. He met and married his wife Colleen Kreeck in 1956. After 1977, he worked for Nodak Contracting, Arial Contractors and Middleton Brothers Farm. Later in semi-retirement he worked spring and fall at Carroll Farms. Orville was a lifelong member or St. Paul's Lutheran church of Honeyford. He also served as treasurer of the Honeyford Farmer's Elevator. Other times he spent as a Boy Scout Leader, Mason, Shriner and member of Moose Lodge. In his free time he enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing and cards. He is most remembered for his stories from his adventures in Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska and Canada. Orville is survived by his children, Christine (William) Moore, Robin (Christie), Michael, Jeanette Carroll, Jonathan (Sally), four grand children, Ryan Savalla, Anthony (Meegan) Savalla, Sadie Beyer, Garrett Carlson and two great grand children, Yvette Elder and Louis Savalla. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Dorothy and his wife Colleen. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Honeyford, ND VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral at the church INTERMENT: (Spring) St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Honeyford, ND.
