Jean Haaven

Jean A. Haaven, 90, Grand Forks , ND died Friday, February 26, 2010 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare. Jean was born January 13, 1920 in St. Thomas , ND the daughter of William and Alta (Young) Bigwood. She was raised and educated near St. Thomas then graduated from Union Commercial College in Grand Forks . Jean married Norman Haaven in October of 1940 in Grand Forks. They lived in Grand Forks where Jean worked as a secretary for the public school system, and later for Grand Forks County. Jean loved to cook, sew and garden. She was involved with the United Lutheran Church quilters. Survivors include daughters, Judy Wilwand, Laytonville , CA and Beth ( Douglas ) Johnston, Grand Forks ; grandchildren, Kurt Wilwand, Kristi Wilwand, Kelli (Chris) Dunnigan, Shawn Johnston; great grandchildren, Raven Wilwand and Cohen Dunnigan; brothers, Roy (Karen) Bigwood, St. Thomas, ND, Paul Bigwood, Canal Winchester, OH, Archie (Marilyn) Bigwood, Bottineau, ND, Lyle (Audrey) Bigwood, Minneapolis; sisters, Margaret Smith, Lynnwood, WA, Marion (Robert) Higgins, New London, WI, Betty (Leonard) Wolfgram, Niagara, ND; sister in law, Barbara Bigwood, Fergus Falls, MN. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 2003; an infant son; brothers William, James (Donalda) and Robert and a sister-in-law, Jean Bigwood.
