Doris Burma Bertelson

Doris Burma Bertelson, 90, of Grand Forks, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village Hearthstone Unit. Doris was born on March 2, 1919 the daughter of Henry and Hanna (Broin) Knudson in rural Fargo. In 1936 she graduated from Central High School in Fargo. Doris married Harold Theodore Erickson in Fargo in 1939. She lived and worked in Fargo and cooked at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. In 1947, Doris married Roy Bertelson in Fargo, ND. They later made their home in Grand Forks, ND. Doris was a wonderful homemaker. She was also part owner of the Rusco Window and Siding Company for 31 years in Grand Forks, ND. Doris was an avid bridge player and loved to travel. They enjoyed spending time at their lake home of 42 years on Pelican Lake. She also spent time at their retirement home in Hemet, CA. Doris is survived by her husband, Roy; children, Jim Erickson of Lake Elsinore, CA, Kathryn Offutt of Stillwater, MN, Mark (Joyce) Bertelson of Lengby, MN; sister, Maxine Lambert of Hemet, CA; brother, Donald Knudson of Gladstone, OR; 4 grandchildren, Mike & Jerry Erickson, Ryan Offutt and James Bertelson; and 4 great-grandchildren. Doris is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Erickson; sister, Marge Lien; 4 brothers, Howard, Glen, William, and Curtis Knudson. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral at the church INTERMENT: (Spring) Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.
