Dorothy J. Kosobud, 65, Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks after a short but courageous battle against cancer. Dorothy Jean Ortlip was born April 9, 1944 in Crystal, ND the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Niemann) Ortlip. She was raised and educated in Crystal then moved to Grafton, ND to work as a telephone operator. Dorothy married Charles Kosobud on July 11, 1964 in St. John's Lutheran Church of Crystal, ND. They lived in Colorado Springs, CO and at Ft. Riley, KS before moving to Grand Forks. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Rygg Electric and Town and Country Masonry before working for Apollo Electric. She helped found Bon Voyage Travel and also worked for the Diamond Lounge of Grand Forks . Dorothy served as secretary of her townhome association. She was an avid reader who enjoyed Fighting Sioux hockey games and playing Bunko with her neighbors. She took great pride in her children and grandchild. Survivors include son, Brian (Lisa Keiser) Kosobud, Lakeville, MN; daughter, Dawn (Jim Johnson) Kosobud, Grand Forks; grandchild, Brennah Dorothy Kosobud, Lakeville, MN; sister, Jeanette (Ronald) McAtee, Northwest Angle, MN; brother, Charles (Judy) Ortlip, Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
