Sophie Grendahl

Sophie C. "Pat" Grendahl, 100, Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2010 at Riverview Memory Care Center, Crookston, Minnesota. Sophie "Pat" Johnson was born to Herman and Rodi (Weum) Johnson on August 12, 1909 at Flom, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school at Flom. Sophie was united in marriage to Edgar L. Grendahl on June 21, 1936 at Flom. They lived in Bemidji, Minnesota following their marriage. They later moved to Grand Forks where Pat was employed by Norby's Department Store as a sportswear buyer. After retirement she moved to Boise, Idaho and then returned to Grand Forks in 2000. Pat was a longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law in Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Grendahl who died June 28, 1986; her parents; brothers, George, Mervin, and Edwin; sisters, Mabel Severson, Rose Stene, Stella Burlog, and Gertrude Highness. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, North Dakota. Family Greeting: one hour prior to the memorial service in the funeral home. Interment: will be later in the spring at Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks
