Kenneth Fortman

kenneth S. "Kenny" Fortman, 71, Warren, MN died Friday, March 12, 2010 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Kenny was born march 8th, 1939 in Hillsboro, Nd the son of John and Ruth Fortman. He was baptized at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church then raised and educated near Hillsboro. Kenny served in the U. S. Army then came to Grand Forks to work for the Great Northern Railways and later Burlington Northern Railroad. He also worked as a rebar bender for Concrete Inc. of Grand Forks. He retired due to ill health, but continued to do odd jobs as his health would allow. In 1982, Kenny married Suzanne Swengel in East Grand Forks, MN. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne, Warren, MN; daughters, Dianne Hurt, Grand Forks, Sharon Pigeon, Grand Forks, Sandy Ulmer, Grand Forks, Vicki Thompson, Karlstad, MN, Renay Pigeon, Grand Forks, Lana (Joel) Kubischta, Warren, MN; sons, Charles (Gail) Hobus, East Grand Forks, MN and Mike (Lori) Hobus, Manvel, ND; Grandpa will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Ben, Adrean, Zerah, Omega, Jacob, Cindy, Jennifer, Theresa, Adam, Heather, Eric, April, Ericia, Jeremy, Hannah, Casey, Kayla, and Jered; He had 21 great grandchildren; He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by his sisters Bernice Baglien, Cincinnati, OH, Emogene DeGrasse, Hillsboro, ND, Lois Fortman, Ada, MN; brother, Lynn Fortman, McIntosh, MN. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters, son Douglas Pigeon, and a grandson, Justin Pigeon.
