Robert Ralph Schroder, 69, of Mekinock, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, after a courageous 42 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Robert was born on April 5, 1940, in Grand Forks, the son of Harold and Jennie (Ostead) Schroder. Robert grew up at rural Mekinock, ND and graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN in 1958. Robert attended UND for 2 years and NDSU for an additional 2 years. Robert married Arlene Pedersen on July 7, 1962. They had 2 children Randy and Daniel. They later divorced. Robert was diagnosed at the University of Minnesota with having Multiple Sclerosis in 1968. Robert worked for American Crystal Sugar from 1962 until his disability forced him to retire in the mid 1990's. Robert enjoyed traveling with his 2 sons, watching UND and high school basketball, and in his earlier days he golfed and hunted. Robert was a kind hearted, gentle man who had a strong faith in the Lord. Robert is survived by his sons; Randy (Marilyn) Schroder of Minto, ND, Daniel (Heather) Schroder of Fisher, MN; brother, Arthur (Joyce) Schroder of Mekinock; sister, Louise (Leland) Paulson of Morgantown, WV; 3 grandchildren, Colt, Mia and Blake, and ex-wife, Arlene Colbert of Bagley, MN. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Donald. FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. INTERMENT: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
