Edward M. Johnson, 83, formerly of Grand Forks, ND passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Hartford, WI. Edward Merle Johnson was born September 11, 1926 in Grand Forks, ND to Elmer & Hattie (Olson) Johnson. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He attended the University of North Dakota where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Gloria A. (Hardy) on October 22, 1950 in Grand Forks, ND. Survivors include: three children, Steven (Susan) of West Bend, WI, Carol (Greg) Bullinger of Bottineau, ND, and David (Jane) of West Allis, WI; Seven grandchildren, Erik (Wendy) & Craig Johnson, Krystal (Tijani) Abdurrahman, Anthony & Rachel Bullinger; Ian & Kimberly Johnson; one great-grandchild, Khaliel Abdurrahman; Sister Harriet Kling of Bismark ND. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria July, 31, 2007. Ed traveled extensively during his career and boasted of having "walked all over the world". His optimistic attitude and determination were an inspiration to all those around him. Ed was extremely proud of his family and the examples set by him as a role model will be passed on through the generations. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a 6:00 p.m. Prayer Service at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, ND. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks, ND. Memorials to the University of North Dakota appreciated.
