Marion O. Wylie

Marion O. Wylie, 93, of Grand Forks, formerly of Edinburg, ND, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Marion Olivia Dahlen was born on the family farm in Dahlen Township, Nelson County, North Dakota on March 24, 1917. She was the 10th child of Ole E. and Mary (Anderson) Dahlen. She was baptized and confirmed by the Reverend H. C. Olsen in the Middle Forest River Lutheran Church rural Dahlen, North Dakota. Marion attended Dahlen Public School and graduated from Dahlen High School and the Commercial Extension College of Omaha, Nebraska. She was interested in genealogy and was the Elling and Marit Dahlen Family Historian from 1939 to 1995. On January 31, 1942 she was united in marriage to Frank A. Wylie and they moved to Utah where they were employed at the Deseret Chemical Warfare Depot at St. John and Tooele, Utah. In 1946 they returned to North Dakota to take over his father's business, the Wylie Monument Company which they owned and operated for 47 years. Frank passed away on December 25, 1996. Marion continued living in Edinburg until September, 2003 when she moved to 4000 Valley Square in Grand Forks. Marion was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity WELCA, Forever Young Senior Citizens, Walsh County Historical Society and the Valdres Samband. In her younger days she taught Sunday School and held offices in the Ladies Aid. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mavis and Dennis Hogfoss, Grand Forks; one granddaughter, Michelle (Brian)Aanstad, Hampden, North Dakota; two grandsons, David Hogfoss, Grand Forks and Dan (Katie) Hogfoss, Fargo; five great-grandchildren: Melissa (Nathan) Rauser, Minot, Josh Kraft, East Grand Forks, Katie and Luke Aanstad, Hampden and Garrett Hogfoss, Fargo; great-great-granddaughter Baylie Rauser, Minot. Three sisters-in-law, Edna Dahlen, Grand Forks, and Minnie Copp and Ida Wylie, Portland, Oregon. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents, three sisters, Alma Dahlen, Mabel Pippin and Margaret Knudson; seven brothers, Elvin, Helmer, Julius, Alfred, Clarence, Olaf and Herbert Dahlen. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg, ND. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
