All service details are under the direction of Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home of Crookston, MN Loren Richard Knudson, Grand Forks, formerly of Woodbury and Crookston, MN, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Grand Forks. He was born July 9, 1924 to Gertrude (McConoughey) and Richard Knudson in Valley City, ND. In 1940, he moved with his family to Crookston where he graduated from Central High School in 1942. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Air Corps in Guadalcanal, New Guinea and other points in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. In 1947, he was united in marriage with Bette Jane Lerum in Crookston. He was a systems analyst and assistant controller for Montana-Dakota Utilities Company and was later employed at Inter-City Gas Company and the Minnesota Department of Revenue, from which he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bette Jane (1998). He is survived by a son, David (Valerie) Knudson, Coon Rapids, MN, and daughter, Pamela Knudson, Grand Forks; grandchildren: David Richard (Lisa) Knudson, Jr., Woodbridge, VA; Thomas Charles Knudson, Woodbury, and Katherine Mae Knudson of West Hollywood, CA, and great-grandchildren: Erik Mateo Knudson, Ian Anders Knudson and Ellie Rain Knudson of Woodbridge and Julia Sky Knudson and Callie Mae Knudson, Woodbury. Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Crookston. Visitation at 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston.
