Vallee Ann Simundson

Vallee Ann Simundson, 83, passed away on June 30, 2010 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Valgerdur Anna Simundson was born June 17, 1927 in the rural Gardar Township (Pembina County), home of her parents Anna Margret (Jonasson) and Valdimar Jacob Thorsteinson. She attended school in Pembina County and then moved to live with her sister in Grand Forks during high school. She graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks, ND. She married Johannes "Joe" Simundson on February 20, 1946 in Mountain, ND. They lived in Hensel, ND before moving to Grand Forks, ND in 1956. They retired and moved to the family farm in rural Hensel, ND in the 1970's. They returned back to Grand Forks, ND in 1989. She lived in the family home until she moved to Parkwood Place and later Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Vallee Ann enjoyed gardening and volunteering at Altru. She was active at the Vidalin Church in Hensel, ND and the University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. Vallee Ann is survived by her sons Barry Simundson, Casselton,ND, Jon (Pat) Simundson Grand Forks, ND, daughter-in-law Cheryl (Roger) Simundson, Grand Forks, ND; brother Orville A. (Elaine) Thorsteinson, Merillville, IN; sister Mae V. (Herb) Heideman, Medford, OR; grandchildren Julie Simundson, Astoria, OR, James Simundson, Grand Forks, ND, Shane Simundson, Casselton, ND, Tyler Simundson, Fargo, ND, Melissa Simundson, Ruston, LA, Erik Simundson, Grand Forks, ND; great grandchildren Brady Simundson, Jaden Simundson, and Lilian Grace Peterson. She is preceded in death by her husband Johannes Simundson; son Roger Simundson; sisters Agnes (King) Sannes, Ruth (Bjorn) Olgeirson, H. Joyce (Gisli) Sampson, Violet (Melvin) Jorgenson, Sigurbjorg "Beulah" (Barney) Olgeirson; brothers V. Raymond (Carol) Thorsteinson,Vilhjelmur J. (Bill) Thorsteinson, Johannes T. Thorsteinson; daughter-in-law Debra Simundson; granddaughter Kate Simundson.
