Loretta Lorraine Hayes, 64, of Emerado, ND died July 14, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks after a long battle with cancer and kidney illness. Loretta was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin on November 2, 1945 to Howard and Irene (Hagen) Lambertson. She grew up in rural Elk Mound, WI and graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1963. Loretta married EuGene Hayes at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Elk Mound on October 3, 1964. Loretta retired from J.C. Penney in February of 2007 after 28 years of service. Loretta was selected "Sweet Adeline of the Year" for 2008. Loretta enjoyed jet skiing at her place on Lake Plantagenet in Bemidji, MN and was an avid Sioux Hockey fan and has photos of her and her all-time favorite player, Ryan Duncan. She always enjoyed talking to him. Loretta enjoyed flowers and decorated her home in rural Emerado every year. Loretta is survived by her husband; son, Kurt (Jenn) of Munich, ND; daughters, Leisha (Dennis) of Elk Mound, WI, Laura (Jon) Nissen of Andover, MN; grandchildren, Bobbi Sue, Kristina, Jordyn and Morgan Hayes, Devan Scheffler, Mallyssa and Joshua Nissen; great-granddaughters Graci Ann Hayes and Alyvia Hayes; brother, Larry (Polly) of Forest Lake, MN; sister, Donna (Ken) Price of Elk Mound, WI; sister-in-law, Lori Bayliss of Bel Air, MD and several nephews and a niece. She was proceeded in death by her parents and grandson, Ian. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Caring Bridge or Altru Cancer Center in Loretta's name. MEMORIAL SERVICES: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Emerado, ND. VISITATION: 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the memorial service at the church.
