C.L. "Bud" Linfoot

C. L. "Bud" Linfoot, 83, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Valley Eldercare with his family by his side. Bud was born February 10, 1927 in Grand Forks, the son of L. F. and Marion (Stinson) Linfoot. He graduated from Central High School, where he lettered in tennis. He attended UND, and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. His life work was 3rd generation owner and President of the C. L. Linfoot Company, Grand Forks. He married Delores Rose Olson on October 15, 1949. She passed away March 29, 2000. During their 50 years of marriage, they raised four daughters : Laurie (Duane) Brown, Roseville, CA; Janice (Bradley) Pratt, Mandan, ND; Patti (Douglas) Peterson, East Grand Forks, MN; and Merrie (Mike) Miller, Las Vegas Nevada. He was proud to be the Grandpa to: Kristi (James) Turano, Roseville,CA; Shawn Widman & Marilyn Ost, and Jennifer (Travis) Manzke, Reynolds, ND; Heidi (Craig) Selby, Stacey Pratt, Mandan , ND, Greg Miller, Astoria, OR, and Jessie Keller, Las Vegas, NV. After raising four daughters, Bud was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Jamie Turano and nine great-grandsons: Steven, Christian and Logan Widman, Jake and Kaleb Ost, Ryan Selby, Isaac Miller, Jake and Mike Peden. Another great-grandson is due any day. Bud served as President of the Country Club, was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, VFW and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers. His involvement with the Kem Temple included serving as Potentate in 1976 and later serving as President of the Midwest Shrine Association. His Masonic affiliations included Acacia Lodge 4, the Grand Forks Scottish Rite Bodies, the Kem Drum & Bugle Corps and he served as Kem Shrine Circus Chairman for more than 30 years. In 2008, Bud was honored by the Grand Forks Builders and Traders Exchange Club at a Bud Linfoot Night' celebration. Bud held the office of secretary - treasurer for 38 years and the club established a service award in his name to be presented annually. Bud later married Faye Fladland on May 12, 2001 and gained three step-children: Paul (Glory) Fladland, Grand Forks; Peggy (Randy) Ganyo and Sally (Larry) Miller, Bismarck; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. One of Bud's greatest pleasures was spending time at his lake home on Grace Lake in Minnesota. His love for the water and quiet days of watching the sunsets will forever be remembered. Survivors include his wife, Faye, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-children and their families, brother, Dr. John (Donna) Linfoot, Orinda, CA and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores, his parents, and a sister, Marion Bateman. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service followed by a Masonic Service on Sunday, August 15 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. The family suggests that memorials be designated to the Kem Shrine Red Fez Fund or to a memorial of choice.
