Richard Moen

Richard "R.D." Moen, 81, formerly of Reynolds, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village in Grand Forks. R.D. was born on June 26, 1929 in Crookston, MN, the son of James & Adeline (Kongslie) Moen. He grew up in Reynolds, ND where he graduated from high school. R.D. married Jean Gjelsness on December 14, 1949 in Crookston, MN. They made their home in Reynolds. He was a potato, sugar beet and small grain farmer and was a member of St. Olaf Church where he was baptized and confirmed. R.D. and Jean moved to Grand Forks in 2006. R.D. was a member of the Reynolds Fire Dept., member of G.F. Elks Club, Past President Red River Valley Potato Growers Association, National Potato Council, ND Farm Bureau National Ag Committee and ND State Seed Commission (NDSU Station), Treasurer of G.F. County Farm Bureau, Central Valley School Organization Committee and the Americus Township Board. R.D. is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Charles (Arlette) Moen, Denise (Richard) Mork, Timothy (Angie) Moen, Bob Moen, Michael (Lisa) Moen, Paul Moen, Jeffrey (Vicki) Moen; dauther-in-law, Sylvia Moen; brother, Dwaine E. (Vickie) Moen; 13 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 7 great-grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Darlyne and daughter, Tricia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite organization or St. Olaf Lutheran Church of Reynolds. In lieu of "Thank You's", a donation will be given to the DAV. FUNERAL SERVICES: Friday, August 20, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Reynolds, ND VISITATION: Thursday, August 19 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the funeral service at the church. INTERMENT: Americus Cemetery, Reynolds, ND.
