Betty Lou (Peterson) Gerstner, 72, Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 after a year long battle with cancer and most recently, a stroke. Betty Lou was born December 8, 1937 to Helmer E. and Pearl C. (Evenson) Peterson at Northwood, ND. She grew up on the farm west of Northwood. She attended country school and graduated from Northwood High School in 1955. She attended Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks. Betty Lou's first job was at Absey Motors after which she worked 40 years for Border States Electric. She married Ronn Gerstner on May 8, 1999 at Calvary Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Her activities included quilting at church, singing in the Women's Ensemble, spending countless hours in her counted cross stitch projects for family and friends and lunches with the Belmont Patio ladies. Betty Lou was a very caring and generous person and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband, Ronn; brother, Gordon (Marian) Peterson, Larimore, ND; sisters, Carolyn (Joel) Tangen and Arlette (Lowell) Stanlake all of Grand Forks; stepchildren, Sandi (Lonnie) Osborne, California, Shelly (Ken) Dacey, Minneapolis, Carl Gerstner, Colorado, Craig Gerstner, California; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. The family expresses deep appreciation for the wonderful care given to Betty Lou at Valley Eldercare.
