David Walter Stott

David Walter Stott passed away suddenly at his home in Grand Forks on Saturday, August 28, 2010. Born Aug 4, 1939 in Pontiac, Michigan, Dave was the son of Frank and Winnifred Stott. Dave enlisted in the US Air Force in 1957. His first assignment was at Sculthorpe AFB in England, where he met June Lavinia Sutherland. They were married in a 12th Century church in North Creake, England on Oct.17, 1959. The couple had two children, Beverley in 1960, and Richard in 1964. Dave's 24 year career in the Air Force took him to Grand Forks AFB three times, McCoy AFB in Florida, Clear Mews AFS in Alaska, and Ramstein AFB in Germany. He retired from the Air Force in 1981 and settled in Grand Forks. He worked at Robertson's Lumber Yard, Lumber Mart, True Value Hardware, and most recently as a maintenance man at the Town House Motor Inn. Dave officially retired to crossword puzzles and surfing the internet in 2008. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers - Fred and Bob. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, June; daughter Beverley (Rich) Longoria, Grand Forks; son Richard Stott, Aurora CO; granddaughter Kelly (Tom) Pearson, Leicester, England; and grandson Michael Longoria, Grand Forks. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Wednesday, September 1, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the memorial service at Amundsons.
