Helen L. Jenny

Helen Jenny, 93, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Bella Vista, AR and Crookston, MN, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks, ND. Helen Louada Johnson was born November 13, 1916 on the family farm in Kinloss Township, near Fairdale, ND. She was the daughter of Hans and Clara (Nygard) Johnson. Helen graduated from Fairdale North Dakota Consolidated School in 1935. She attended Business College and worked in various secretarial and bookkeeping positions. In 1944, Helen joined the Women's Army Corp where she trained as a medical assistant. She was initially stationed in San Antonio, TX and was trained in various hospitals along the East Coast of the United States. She was honorably discharged in August 1946. Helen married Charles R. Jenny on October 10, 1948 in Fairdale, ND. They lived in Moffit, ND and then moved to Crookston, MN where they raised their family. Helen worked in the office at the Crookston Clinic and then with Charles at the Crookston Grain Company. Upon retirement, Helen and Charles moved to Bella Vista, AR. Charles preceded her in death on May 13, 1987. Helen moved to Grand Forks, ND in the Fall of 2003. Helen is survived by sons John Jenny, Columbia, IL, Paul (Pamela) Jenny, Snellville, GA: daughter, Ruth (Kenneth Yutrzenka) Jenny, Grand Forks, ND; 4 granddaughters, Anna Jenny, Dana Jenny, Jenny Yutrzenka and Ky Yutrzenka; brother, Omar (Lavonne) Johnson, Fairdale, ND; brother-in-law, David (Margaret) Jenny; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Howard Johnson and Elmo Johnson; brothers-in-law, John Jenny, Jean Jenny and James Jenny; and sister-in-law, Lillian Johnson. Services: will be 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 4000 Valley Square Chapel, 4002 24th Ave. South, Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment: will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul, Minnesota.
