Jack Ell

Jacob "Jack" Ell, 76, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Jack was born on June 10, 1934 in Gary, Indiana to Jacob and Frances Ell. He attended St. Mary's High School and Lake Region Junior College in Devils Lake, ND and Moller Barber College in Fargo, ND. He married Alida "Jean" Erickson on May 14, 1956 at St. Joseph's Church in Devils Lake, ND. They moved to Grand Forks, ND where Jack owned Varsity Barber Shop. He later owned and retired from Thompson Insurance. He was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Jack was a devoted husband and father. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and camping with his family and friends. He also was an avid photographer and spent hours hunting for the perfect picture. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents and his brother Bert. He is survived by Mike (Tori) Ell, Jim (Judy) Ell, Laurie (Steve) Schmaltz, Tom (Barb) Ell, Joe (Alana) Ell, Barb Ell, Steve (Stacy) Ell, 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his sister Josephine Merchant and many nieces and nephews. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, October 22, 2010 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church 1018 18th Ave. S. Grand Forks. VISITATION: Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. INTERMENT: Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Grand Forks, ND.
