Philip S. Olson, 80, of Thompson, ND died Saturday, October 30, 2010 in the Fargo VA Medical Center. Philip Olson was born January 31, 1930 in Michigan, ND the son of Sam and Marian (Gilbertson) Olson. He grew up and attended school in Michigan. Philip served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Esther Wimer on October 12, 1954 at Junction City, Kansas. Esther passed away on Sept. 1, 1976. He married Dorothy Hansen on Dec. 3, 1977 in the Walle Lutheran Church, rural Thompson, ND. Philip worked for Flament-Ulman Inc., and then worked for Grand Forks Glass and Paint until his retirement. He was a member of the Walle Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Post 157 in East Grand Forks, MN. Philip is survived by: Wife: Dorothy Olson Sons: Rodney(Linda) Olson Laramie (Doni-Erin) Olson Step- Son: Marty Harms Daughters: LuWanna (Roger) Hinden Phylis (Lowell) Matejcek Renee (Kieth) Amundson Jolien (Tim) Carr Step-Daughter: Jodi (Dean) Dirk 31 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren Philip was preceded in death by his first wife Esther; brothers, Virgil, Stanley, Lawrence and Kenneth; son, Corry Olson and his parents. Funeral services will be 10:30am on Thursday, November 4, 2010 in the Walle Lutheran Church, rural Thompson, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd St., Grand Forks. Interment will be in the Walle Church Cemetery, rural Thompson.
