Leona Florence Kjono

Leona F. Kjono, 88, of Grand Forks, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 4000 Valley Square Hearthstone Unit in Grand Forks. Leona was born June 19, 1922, in Downer, MN, the daughter of Ernest & Euphemia (O'Leary) McCarthy. She grew up and attended school in Downer and was baptized Lutheran. Leona married Alvin S. Kjono in May of 1944. She worked as a housekeeper for United Hospital in Grand Forks and was a homemaker. She was recognized by United Hospital for her hard work. Leona was also very proud to be a breast cancer survivor. Leona enjoyed macramé, gardening, crocheting, knitting, cake decorating and baking. Leona is survived by her children, Douglas (Vicki) Kjono and Pamela Kjono and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin and 3 sisters. FUNERAL SERVICES: Friday, November 5, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at Amundson's. INTERMENT: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
