Betty Martinson

Betty A. Martinson, 83, Grand Forks, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Betty Ann Johnson was born on January 20, 1927 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to John and Randina (Twedt) Johnson. She graduated from Central High School in 1944 and Mayville State Teachers College in 1948. She taught school in Hampden, North Dakota and Tioga, North Dakota. She married Russell S. Martinson on August 7, 1950. They lived in Hampden, Tioga, and Grand Forks, North Dakota. Russell passed away in 1964. She moved to Lakewood, Colorado in 1982 and returned to Grand Forks in 1991. She then was in the Foster Grand Parent Program for 10 years. Betty was a member of United Lutheran Church. She is survived by a son, David Martinson, Grand Forks; a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Kvamme, Carlsbad, CA; grandchildren, Joseph Cox, Denver, CO, Kacey Kvamme, San Jose, CA, Sara Martinson, Grand Forks, Jeremy Kvamme, Grand Forks, Kristy Kvamme, Del Mar CA, Carissa Sonnenberg, Grand Forks and Jenny Adams of Mandan, ND; sister-in-law, Joyce Severson, Ray, North Dakota; brothers-in-law, Lee Martinson, Tioga, ND, and John Martinson, Bettendorf, IA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband,Russell; a daughter, Jolene Martinson; grandson, Jonathan; and a brother Robert Johnson. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m Thursday, November 11, 2010 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St.,Grand Forks, North Dakota Visitation: will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
