Rodney Craig Sattler

June 25, 1951 — November 25, 2010

Rodney Craig Sattler, age 59, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Rod was born June 25, 1951, in Devils Lake, ND to Frank and Ann (Erickson) Sattler. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Devils Lake in 1969. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969-75 when he was honorably discharged. Rod married Mary Zimmer Dosch on September 3, 1992. He resided in Washington State from 1974 until 2003, when he and the love of his life returned to North Dakota, residing at their current home in Grand Forks, ND. After his discharge from the Navy, Rod was employed by Georgia Pacific from 1975 until 2001. He then returned to North Dakota working at Altru Hospital from 2003 until the present after obtaining a degree in BioMed Technology from Bellingham Technical College in 2003. Rod was an avid reader and hardly a day went by without the purchase of the USA Today. He liked to fish, target shoot, and was an official 'putzer'. He had a caring personality and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. His greatest joy though was the time spent with his beloved grandchildren. Rod is survived by his wife Mary of Grand Forks, ND; children Brian Sattler of La Conner, WA, Jeff Dosch (Lisa) of Devils Lake, ND, Steve Dosch (Lola) of Fargo, ND, Mitchell Dosch (Jennifer) of Eden, NC; grandchildren Hunter, Braden, Ashton, Parker and Madison; brothers Steve Sattler (Dianne) of Thompson, ND and Dale Sattler (Cindy) of Edina, MN; sisters Kathy Froelich (Erv) of Grand Forks, ND, Karla Sattler of Sartell, MN, Linda Sattler of Bismarck, ND, Diane Peterson (Marlin) of Rapid City, SD, Shelley Palmer (Willis) of Lincoln, NE and Julie Eggebraaten (Kip) of Sioux Falls, SD and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Ann Erickson; paternal grandparents Wendelin and Christina Sattler; parents, Frank and Ann Sattler; brother, Bernard Sattler; and sisters Mary and Anne Sattler. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 United Lutheran Church 324 Chestnut St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church.
