Richard Hoeger

Richard Lyle Hoeger, 73, Grand Forks, North Dakota passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010 while vacationing with his wife Pat on a visit to Richard's sister in Victorville, California. Richard was born June 28, 1937 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. to William and Lydia (Holweger) Hoeger. He farmed with his father until his marriage Patricia Ann Ostile on November 26, 1958 in Crookston, Minn. Richard worked for Northland Chemical/Simplot Soil Builders from 1966-1999, when he retired. Up until his passing, he continued to work at Hoeger Steel Bins which he established in 1968. Richard enjoyed snowmobiling as a favorite past time. His favorite snowmobiling spot was Island Park, Idaho. When he wasn't snowmobiling, he enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Richard was a member of Evanger Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He is survived by his wife Patricia of the family home, and his children Valarie, husband Richard of West Plains, Mo., Bruce and wife Leah Hoeger of Grand Forks N.D., Nannette and husband Russell Hons of Grand Forks, N.D., Shelley and husband Lonnie Gormsen of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Donald and wife Margaret Hoeger of Grand Forks, N.D. and Daniel and wife Tammi Hoeger of Horace, N.D., Kerry and husband Eric Morton of Bend, Ore., his 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his brother Gordon and wife Dorothy Hoeger, sisters Laverne Gieselhart, Deanna and husband Earl Lane, Carol Mattson & Lylia Bloomfield. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Hoeger. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Evanger Lutheran Church. Funeral Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation: 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment: Evanger Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Grand Forks.
