Beverly Uhlenberg

Beverly M. Uhlenberg, 72, Grand Forks, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at home. Beverly Marlene Tollefson was born to Carl and Edith (Windingland) Tollefson on March 21, 1938. She was raised on a farm near Osnabrock, North Dakota. She attended Osnabrock public school, Oak Grove High School in Fargo, Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Ohio State University, and received her PhD from the University of North Dakota. She taught junior high school in Minneapolis, pre-school in Salt Lake City, and Home Economics and Human Development at UND. She received a number of awards and citations from Augusburg College and UND, including Outstanding Teacher Award at UND. Beverly was a professor of Home Economics at UND, and retired professor and department chair of Teaching and Learning. Beverly has been a resident of Grand Forks for the past 30 years. She was a member of a number of professional organizations including a member of the local P.E.O. and Round Table organizations. She enjoyed travel, reading, hiking and camping. Beverly will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, friend, and colleague and will be missed by all. Throughout her life she maintained a very positive, unselfish, fair, tolerant and impartial attitude toward others. She was a very good person. She is survived by her husband Don; sons, Tom and Rolf; brothers Harold and Conrad Tollefson; and a sister, Linda. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any donations be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Memorial Services: Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405, S. 9th St., Grand Forks.
