Oscar G. Erickson, 87, of Grand Forks, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Oscar was born September 18, 1923 in Rutland, ND, the son of Ole and Otillie (Sund) Erickson. He graduated from Rutland High School. Oscar lived in Veblen, SD and Minneapolis/St. Paul before coming to Grand Forks in 1952. Oscar served in the US Army from March of 1944-May of 1946. When he returned to the states he married Doris Jennen on November 5, 1944. Oscar worked at the Post Office from 1961 until 1988 when he retired. Oscar enjoyed gardening (growing his cone flowers), hunting, spending time at his Devils Lake lake property, spending time with his kids and grandkids and going to dinner and movies with special friend, Bea. Oscar is survived by his children, Vicky (Randy) Geir of Grand Forks, Tim (Denise) Erickson of Lakeville, MN, and Tammy (James) Rokusek of West Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; son, Allen and siblings, Melfin, Evelyn and Hazel. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 Sharon Lutheran Church 1720 S. 20th St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND. MILITARY HONORS: N.D. Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors, East Grand Forks American Legion Post #157 & East Grand Forks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 3817.
