Orville E. Gunderson, 77, of Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Orville was born April 22, 1933 in the Buxton area, the son of Gustaf and Hilda (Gustafson) Gunderson. He grew up and graduated from high school in Buxton, ND. He attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. Orville married Mary Ann Sundby on June 15, 1957 in Stephen, MN. They made their home in Grand Forks where Orville worked as a Police Officer until becoming disabled in 1983. Orville loved spending time with his kids, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family and friends. Orville also loved playing the game SKIP-BO. He was a member of United Lutheran Church, the East Side American Legion #157, DAV Chapter #2 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 350. Orville is survived by: Son: Mitch Gunderson - Grand Forks, ND Daughters: Marchelle (Larry) Thompson - Grand Canyon, AZ Marlene Gunderson - Grafton, ND Marla (Brad) Anderson - Grand Forks, ND Brothers: Myron (Donna) Gunderson Gordon (Theoline) Gunderson Rodney (Lila Jean) Gunderson Wallace (Marilyn) Gunderson Dennis (Lorna) Gunderson Sisters: Mavis (Bill) Couchigan Diane Kvitne Rosalie Lindstrom Helene Brend 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren Sister-in - Law: Valarie Gunderson Orville was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; parents; son, Michael; grandson William Thompson; granddaughter, Amanda Boulduc and a brother Gayhart. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 south 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. Military Funeral Honors will be provided by N.D. Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors, East Grand Forks American Legion Post #157 & East Grand Forks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 3817.
