Duane C Winters

Duane Winters, 81, of Thompson, ND, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Duane C. Winters was born on February 2, 1929 to Arthur and Caroline (Larson) Winters in Northwood, ND. On June 22, 1949, Duane married Faye E. Pasco in Reynolds, ND. Together they made their home in Thompson, ND. Duane spent his early years farming and working at the Thompson Elevator. In the 1970s, Duane spent time on the road driving truck. He left trucking after nine years and began working for United (Altru) Hospital of Grand Forks, ND in maintenance. Duane retired from United (Altru) Hospital after 17 years of service. He was a long time member of the Thompson United Methodist Church and the Thompson Cemetery Board. Duane is survived by his wife of 61 years, Faye; a daughter, Cathy (William) Hamm of Jacksonville, AR; a son, Jeffrey (Mary) Winters of Thompson, ND; six grandchildren: Heidi (Michael) Webb of Seattle, WA, Jason (April) Hamm of Cabot, AR, Aimee (Matt Pasmore) Hamm of Jacksonville, AR, Jennifer Winters of Maple Grove, MN, Allison Winters of Grand Forks, ND and Kelly Winters of Grand Forks, ND; 4 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Darwin Pasco of Thompson, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Grant. Duane is remembered for his love of family and friends, and his craftsmanship.
