Geraldine "Jerry" Rosella Bosard McDonald, 86, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at her home in Grand Forks, surrounded by her family. Geraldine was born on November 16, 1924 to Gerald and Kaia Bosard on the Bosard family farm near Warren, Minnesota. She graduated from Warren High School and then attended Los Angeles City College in California. She moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota and worked for the US Geological Survey at The University of North Dakota. She married John A. McDonald January 9, 1950. They had six children and family life was her priority. She worked for The Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Forks for nearly twenty years as the associate director of admissions. She was also a life-long learner, passionate reader and sports fan in addition to a member of Mensa International. With Mensa, she traveled to England to study at Oxford University. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. Geraldine is survived by her six children, Barbara Repine (Burt), San Diego , CA, David, Minneapolis, MN, Elizabeth Gibb (Robert), Fargo, ND, Douglas (Wanda), Grand Forks, ND, Patricia Strom (Tom), Fargo, ND and Duncan (Melanie Cairns), Grand Forks, ND in addition to grandchildren Angela and Joseph Sepe, Kathleen Repine, Mat Strom, John McDonald and Alex McDonald. She is also survived by her brother James Bosard, Grand Forks, and sisters Fern (Wayne) Stokke and Jackie Reilly (Chuck) Hoff. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, her sister Rebecca Stavig and her brothers, Charles, Robert and Rex Bosard. Funeral Mass: Wednesday, December 29, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church 1018 18th Ave. S. in Grand Forks. Visitation: the hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the church. Interment: (Spring 2011) Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Grand Forks.
