Charles William Birkholz passed away suddenly on December 31, 2010. Charles was born in Grand Forks, ND on July 9, 1940, to Orville and Concordia (Kehoe) Birkholz. He gradated from St. James High School and attended the University of North Dakota before beginning his career with Honeywell where he worked as an electrical engineer. He also served eight years in the North Dakota National Guard. He married Judith Hoverson in 1962, and together with their growing family, they traveled around the country for his job until settling in Minneapolis, MN to raise their family. Charles retired from Honeywell in 2007 and moved to Rosholt, SD to enjoy a quieter pace of life. He is preceded in death by wife Judith; children Patricia, Dean, Paul, and Theresa; and parents Orville and Concordia. He is survived by children Kathryn Birkholz, Diane (John) Carroll, Wayne (Christine Carlisle) Birkholz, and Susan (Ali) Dioury; grandchildren William, Audrey, Sophie, Samir, and Leila; sisters Gloria (Jerry) Pope and Virginia (Tom) Otis; brothers Roger (Jeanne) Birkholz, Jonathon (Vicki) Birkholz, James (Michelle) Birkholz, and Tim Birkholz; and many other relatives and friends. He will be missed by all. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 4. 2010 at 11:00 AM in St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Manvel, ND. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 7 PM with a 7PM prayer service in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd St., Grand Forks. Interment will be in St. Timothy's Cemetery in the spring.
