Richard "Dick" Emmett Dahl, 74, Grand Forks, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Dick was born February 6, 1936 to Emmett and Hazel (Duncan) Dahl. He attended grade school thru high school in Grand Forks where he was active in many sports and activities. Dick graduated from Central High School in 1955. He later attended Mayville State University and the University of North Dakota. He had a lifelong YMCA involvement, where he was the youth physical director in which he began swimming programs for all ages. He was an avid runner, handball and racquetball player, playing until he was 70 years old. Dick was an insurance claims adjuster, working for AID, Noble, Auto Owners, and Border Area Adjustment Companies. Dick and Sharon Dorr were married in 1957. They had two daughters, Terry and Tammy. Dick and Linda Fullmer were married in 1975, and of that union twins Toni and Tyler were born. They also raised Linda's son, Chad from childhood. He is survived by daughters, Terry (Alan) Beal of Brooklyn Center, MN and her children, Jamie, Janelle and Jared; Tammy (Pat) O'Day and their children, Leo and Cassidy of Fargo; Toni (Brad) Douglas of Grand Forks; sons Tyler Dahl of Grand Forks and his daughter, Shayla; Chad (Amy) Fullmer, and their children, Caleigh-Ann and Gavin of Moorhead, MN, and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by a niece, a nephew and by many beloved cousins; his former wives, Sharon Dvorak and Linda Dahl. He is preceded in death by his father Emmett Dahl, mother Hazel (Sutton) Dahl, and sister Marion (Dahl) Blakely. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment: Located at Memorial Park South Cemetery in the Spring. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to go to the Grand Forks YMCA Partner of Youth Scholarship Fund in memory of Dick Dahl.
