Timothy A. Bonlie, 65, Grand Forks, ND died Sunday, January 16, 2011 after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer, suffering a massive heart attack after surgery in Rochester, MN. Timothy Arthur Bonlie was born in Grand Forks on September 16, 1945 to Arthur and Mildred (Foss) Bonlie. He attended grade school, Central High School of Grand Forks and UND. For many years he was employed in Grand Forks as an electrical estimator. His last employment was with Alerus Property Management until illness forced him to retire in March 2010. Tim was known for his quirky sense of humor, always playing jokes on people and making them laugh. He loved animals, especially his dogs. He also had a passion for NASCAR racing and hockey. Tim married Lucy Farmer on July 17, 1975. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Lucy; son, James, Denver, CO; granddaughter, Haleigh, Spokane, WA; sister, Jean (Gary) Anderson, Viking, MN; brother, Richard (Lucille) Bonlie, East Grand Forks, MN; brothers-in-law, Lee, Randy and Ron (Jan) Farmer all of Grand Forks and his many nieces and nephews. He also played a huge part in the lives of Stacy and Eric Breslin. Tim was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; grandson, Austin; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Sophie Farmer; sister-in-law, Kathy Farmer.
