Lois Jean Larson, 78, Grand Forks, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Transitional Care Unit. Lois Jean Galloway was born to Earl and Mildred (Stewart) Galloway on September 7, 1932 at Stubenville, Ohio. She grew up in Toronto, Ohio, graduating from Toronto High School. She then served in the US Air Force. Lois and Delbert Larson were united in marriage on August 21, 1952 at South International Falls, Minnesota. They lived all over the world during the time her husband Delbert was serving in the US Air Force. They came to Grand Forks in 1969. Lois was locally employed by Western Potato (now Simplot), and later by Altru Hospital until she retired. She was a member and Past President of the VFW Women's Auxiliary Post #1874 and Past President of VFW Auxiliary District 8. Lois enjoyed butterflies, fishing, and growing flowers. She is survived by her husband, Delbert, Grand Forks; children, Patricia Kay and Joe Foster, Winchester, CA, Deborah Marie and Gerald Oldham, Veneta, OR, James Michael Larson, Williston, ND, Robert Wayne Larson and Linda Story, WY, and Jeffrey Martin Larson, Ft. Gibson, OK; 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Judy and Kathy; and a brother, Kenny. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Larry. Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 520 North 6th St., Grand Forks Visitation: for one hour prior to mass in the church. Memorials: are preferred to Valley Memorial Home Eldercare Transitional Care Unit.
