Clayton David Paulson

Clayton D. Paulson, 86, of Grand Forks passed away on January 26, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Clayton was born January 18, 1925 to Albert and Selma (Olberg) Paulson in Woodside Township, rural Erskine, Minnesota. Clayton attended Rodness Lutheran Church, rural Erskine where he was confirmed. He attended Sylvan Nook, District 83 rural school through 8th grade and graduated from Mentor High School in 1942. Clayton attended teacher training in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Clayton married Yvonne Boucher in Crookston, Minnesota on May 17, 1951. He served in the US Navy from January 2, 1945 through July 31, 1946. Clayton worked at Ireland's Lumber Yard for 39 years (Sept. 1946 - June 1985).He also worked at Home Lumber Company in Grand Forks, ND (Oct 1985 - May 1986) and for Chicago Bridge and Iron at the Grand Forks Air Force Base (Aug 1986 - June 1988) when they put in the support system for the B1 Bombers that were coming to the base. Clayton retired in August 1988. Clayton is survived by his sons: David (Nora), Gerald (Marla) and Steven (Rochelle), 8 grandchildren: Nels, Britta, Michelle, Thomas, Amanda, Chaalse, Danielle and Clayton and one sister Marian Varnson. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Yvonne, five brothers (Alfred, Leonard, Harold, Walter and Stanley) and three sisters (Cornelia (Connie), Myrtle and Bernice) and one grandchild (Anders). **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to University Lutheran Church. FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at University Lutheran Church 2122 University Ave. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Sunday, January 30, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral at the church. INTERMENT: (Spring 2011) Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
