Charlotte B. Lewis

March 9, 1916 — January 26, 2011

Charlotte Barbara Lewis, 94, of Grand Forks died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Charlotte moved to Grand Forks from Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1984 to join her sister Elizabeth who was an assistant professor in music education at the University of North Dakota. Charlotte's higher education areas of study were in home economics and music/cello performance. Charlotte was a professional cellist and taught cello out of her home studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Having been a lifelong plant and animal enthusiast, she shared homes with many cats over her lifetime. Her love of and fascination with plant life and trees brought her into her unique, self taught visual art career. She was preceded in death by her parents and only one sibling, her sister, Elizabeth. She will be greatly missed by many close friends, fellow artists, musicians and students. Her generosity and love of community will be felt in the entire region for years to come.
