Susan Jechart

Susan Marie Jechart, 68, Grand Forks, died Friday, February 4, 2011 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center after a long battle with cancer. Susan was born June 23, 1942 in Warren, Minnesota to Lloyd and Marie Johnson. She graduated from Crookston Central High School in 1960. On September 2, 1966 she married Reginald Jechart at Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake, Minnesota and they resided in Grand Forks. Susan worked at Valley Memorial Homes for 30 years beginning at the Almonte Ave. Home and finishing as a receptionist at Tufte Manor when she retired in Dec. 2003. Susan enjoyed many activities including painting, embroidery, gardening and cooking. She especially enjoyed times at their lake cabin in Minnesota. Fishing, playing croquet and burning leaves and brush. She is survived by her husband Reginald "Reg", Grand Forks; one son, Charles, Grand Forks; daughters, Christine, Backus, Minnesota, and Michelle, Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Cordelia, Forest Lake, Minnesota; one brother Kenneth, Grand Rapids, Minnesota; three grand children and various nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patricia. Funeral Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation: one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment: will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery. Memorials: should be directed to the Altru Cancer Center in Grand Forks.
