Patricia R. Appelgren

Patricia R Appelgren (79) died Sunday February 13th at Valley Elder Care due to complications from cancer. She was born February 27th, 1931 in Los Angeles, Ca. She grew up in Los Angeles and Mansfield, TX, before moving to Hillsboro, ND at the age of 12 with her parents Justin and Virginia Bagstad. Pat graduated from high school in Crookston, MN, and began work in Grand Forks where she met her future husband, Willie (W.E.) Appelgren. They were married July 5th, 1951, and had two children Lynn (Buster) and Randy. They moved to Van Nuys, Ca after Willie's discharge from the Air Force. Pat and Willie returned to rural Grand Forks. She worked as the bookkeeper for Appelgren Construction until Willie's retirement in 1990. Pat also worked for many years for Weight Watchers and as the church secretary at St Mark's Lutheran. She enjoyed bowling and gardening, and winters at their home in Mesa, AZ. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Justin and Virginia, and also by her son Buster. She is survived by Willie, her husband of 60 years; son Randy (Margaret) of Minneapolis; grandchildren Matthew (Sabina) Laughlin- East Grand Forks, Derek (Stephanie) Laughlin, Justin Appelgren, Kristen (Ryan) Trippe, Leah (Matthew) Johnson, all of Minneapolis, 4 great grand children, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
