Ronald D. Thompson, 55, Grand Forks, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 in Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN. Ronald David Thompson was born at Karlstad, Minnesota on November 16, 1955 to M. Arnold and Carole (Dennison) Thompson. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in 1974. Ronald graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1981 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Ronald Thompson and Linda Becker were united in marriage on July 23, 1988 in Grand Forks. They resided in Grand Forks and Ronald was the owner of Gateway Sports. Survivors include his wife, Linda; a daughter, Courtney Thompson, Fargo, ND; father, Arnold, Grand Forks; brothers, Randall (Soo-Yin) Thompson, Grand Forks, Reagan (Debra)Thompson, East Grand Forks, MN, Robert (Sherry) Thompson, Grand Forks, and Richard (Jenny) Thompson, Soldatna, Alaska; sisters, Karalee Thompson, Des Moines, IA, Carolyn (Gene) Leppala, Shakopee, MN, and Christina Thompson, Wyoming. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carole Thompson. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February, 19, 2011 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service and sharing of memories on Friday, February 18, 2011 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and for the hour prior to the service in church. Interment: will be in the spring at Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. In Lieu of Flowers: the family prefers memorials to the "Ronald D. Thompson Scholarship Fund"
