Laverne June Thompson

Laverne J. Thompson, 86, of Thompson, ND, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Laverne was born June 9, 1924 at Manvel, the daughter of John and Louise (Branvold) Johnson. She attended school at Manvel and was baptized and confirmed at Middle Grove Lutheran Church. She did housekeeping and child care for many neighbors. She married Thomas G. Thompson on June 9, 1972, and they made their home in the Thompson area. They were members of Walle Lutheran Church in rural Thompson. Laverne liked to bake, cook and just be a homemaker. She loved visiting with people and having company. The coffee pot was always on at home. She also loved planting flowers. Laverne is survived by her brother, Ardell Johnson of Manvel and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; brothers, Vern, LeRoy and John Jr. Funeral services: 1:00 PM, Monday, February 28, 2011, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND.
