Dr. Ervin Robert Ramberg

Dr. Ervin "Bob" Robert Ramberg, 86, of Grand Forks, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Bob was born July 6, 1924, the son of Edward and Barbara (Janikowski) Ramberg in Cudahay, WI. In 1930, he moved with his parents to Grafton, ND where he attended school until 8th grade. In 1940, his family re-located to Grand Forks where Bob graduated from GF Central in 1943. He played right tackle and right guard for the Championship Team in 1940 during his freshman year. Bob enlisted with the US Army and served as a MP during WWII, and was a part of a Honor Guard convoy escorting General McArthur to the front lines during the battle for Leyte. He was one of the machine gunners in the back of the jeep. Bob married Dorothy Fladager on September 8, 1946 at United Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Bob attended UND from 1946-49 and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. In 1949, he and Dorothy moved to Chicago to attend Dental School. From 1949-53 he attended the University of Chicago, IL Dental School. He was a member of the RHO Chapter of Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity. He graduated- Oma Krom Kappa Upsilon, Honorary Dental Fraternity. Bob received 3 clinical awards for; Crown & Bridge, Dentures & Operative and received BS & DDS degree from the University of Illinois. He graduated in the top 5% of his class. Bob and Dorothy moved back to Grand Forks where he ran his dental practice from 1954-1986. Bob is survived by sons, John (Cheryl) Ramberg of Grand Forks, Gary (Margaret) Ramberg of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Jaime and Jordin Ramberg; brother, Edward Ramberg; sister, Cheryl Steinke and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; son, David; grandchild, Jessi and brother, Chester. FUNERAL SERVICES: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Amundson's. INTERMENT: Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND. MILITARY HONORS: ND Army National Guard Military Funeral Honor Team.
