Lloyd Norris Miller

Lloyd N. Miller, 84, of Grand Forks, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Lloyd was born November 26, 1926, in Petersburg, ND, the son of Andrew and Sidsel (Heggedahl) Miller. He grew up and graduated high school in Petersburg. At the age of 17, Lloyd joined the US Navy where he served during WWII and was stationed on the USS Puget Sound. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Lloyd returned to the family farm in Nelson County. He married Eunice Smaage and together they had 3 daughters. The family moved to Grand Forks in 1970. Lloyd worked for the Civil Service at the GF Airbase in refrigeration/air-conditioning. Lloyd's hobbies included fixing automobiles or anything with an engine, restoring furniture, and was a bee-keeper. Lloyd hand built several pieces of farm equipment which he used on the family farm. Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Judy (Paul) Breidenbach of Grand Forks, Jane (Brent) Strand of West Fargo and Joan (Tobin) Spooner of Fargo, ND; and 5 grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Strand, Justin & Drew Spooner and Anna & Benjamin Breidenbach and a sister, Lillie Nusviken. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hjelmar, Oliver, Alfred, Johnny, Melvin; sisters, Bertina, Anne, Adelle, Esther and Selma. FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at University Lutheran Church 2122 University Ave. of Grand Forks. VISITATION: Thursday, March 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND. MILITARY HONORS: N.D. Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors, East Grand Forks American Legion Post #157 & East Grand Forks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 3817.
