Allan R. Coates

Allan R. Coates died on April 9, 2011 at age 85. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Teske Coates, his brother, Harry (died in WWII), and his niece, Judy Coates Nelson. Allan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Adeline of Grand Forks, his two sons, Bob (Nancy) of Edina, MN and Tom (Debbie Falos) of Centennial, CO, five grandchildren, Becky, Dan, Brett, Sarah (Michael Fisbeck), and Rachel Coates, two step-granddaughters, Danielle and Molly Hagen, two great-grandchildren, Michael Holt and Delilah Fisbeck, his sister, Betty MacKenzie, nieces Susan Gundrum, Julie MacLean and Cheri Lock, nephew Bob Kamm, and many other nieces and nephews. Allan was born August 31, 1925 in Cudahy, WI. He grew up in Racine, WI, and graduated from Park High School. He served in WWII in the 15th Army Air Force, 449th Bomb Group, 719th Squadron. He was stationed in Italy and flew in over 40 missions. He was employed with Phillips Petroleum until he co-purchased Hobbs Pump and Fuel Service in Grand Forks, ND. Al's hobby was golf. Al will be remembered for his high integrity, hard work ethic, love for his family and his faith in the Lord. Per his wishes, there will be no memorial service.
