Verna L. Mauch, 92, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Verna Louise Mauch was born to Swan and Laurentina (Anderson) Norberg on July 2, 1918 in Minnepolis, Minnesota. She was raised and educated at Minneapolis. After graduation from high school she attended the Minnesota School of Business. Verna and Lee H. Mauch were united in marriage on September 21, 1940 in Minneapolis. They lived in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Grand Forks in 1952. She was an active member of United Lutheran Church and a longtime member of the church altar guild. She was also a talented artist. Verna was the heart and soul of her family, loved by those who knew her for her positive outlook, bright smile and gift for entertaining. Verna is survived by her three children, Janice Peterson (Greg) of Grand Forks, Joanne Lehman (Dr. William), of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and James Mauch (Megan) of Breckenridge, Colorado; five grandchildren, Marisa (Tim) Solberg, Jordan Peterson, Dru Lehman, Brett Lehman, and Sandia Lehman; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Bette Reedy of Minneapolis; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Lee who died April 22, 1991. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m Monday, May 2, 2011 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation: one hour prior to the service in the church Interment: Private family interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
