Kenneth D. Mather, 68, of Grand Forks, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Kenneth was born September, 20, 1942, in Grand Forks, the son of Fred and Alice(Muir) Mather. He graduated from Gilby High School in 1960. Kenneth served in the US Marine Corp from 1961-64 while being stationed in Yuma, AZ. Kenneth worked in Arizona for the Bureau of Reclamation. In 1982 he moved back to Grand Forks. He worked for the Grand Forks Water Dept. for 18 years before his retirement in 2006. Kenneth enjoyed watching movies, Nascar and westerns, reading, and traveling. He was big-hearted and was a perfect gentleman. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Pete". Kenneth is survived by nephews, Mark (Deb) Haats of Thief River Falls, MN, Steve (Brenda) Haats of Warroad, MN; niece, Eileen (Kevin Lull) Kelley of McCallsburg, IA; brother-in-law, Gordon Haats of St. Hilaire, MN and several great-nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol. MEMORIAL SERVICES: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service at Amundson's. INURNMENT: Prairie Home Cemetery, Gilby, ND. MILITARY HONORS: ND Army National Guard Military Funeral Honor Team.
