Melba Jean Rose Carlson, 84, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Altru Hospital. She was born September 19, 1926 in Hatton, ND to Palmer and Ida (Wastvedt) Tveten. For a short time during WWII, her family moved to Bremerton, WA where she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Dwaine (Toby) Carlson on December 18, 1948 in Hatton, ND. They lived the majority of their married lives in Grand Forks. Her greatest joy was when she could spend time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her laughter and her warmth will be greatly missed by all. She was proud to be a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church and loved singing in the choir. She is survived by her husband and 5 daughters: Karen (Wayne) Blegen, Grand Forks, Becky Bryson, Grand Forks, Cindy (Brian) Nedberg, Peoria, AZ, Jeannie (Mark) Ackerman, Ojai, CA and Peggy (Tom) Jude, Seattle, WA; her grandchildren: Cory (Ann) Blegen, Katie (Chris) Weiner, Toby Bryson, Tanya (Aaron) Reinhardt, Angie (Cyndi) Nedberg- Freeland, Lukas Ackerman, Adam (Ashley) Jude andMichael Jude; her greatgrandchildren: Carson Blegen, Christopher Green, Jerica Bryson, Noah, Emma and Zachary Reinhardt, Tanner Nedberg- Freeland, Piper and Grady Jude and her siblings: Phil(Mary) Tveten, Waldo Tveten, Arlene Straza and Laurie Futterman. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Omer Tveten, Joyce Teie, Art Tveten, Eve Woidtke and her grandson Benjamin Nedberg.
