Brian Yoney, 45, Denver, Colorado and formerly of Grand Forks, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center, Denver, after his battle with leukemia. Brian Allen Yoney was born in Grand Forks on November 22, 1965 to Richard and Judith (Kinneberg) Yoney. Brian graduated from Central High School in 1984. He then went on to Lake Region for a year on a basketball scholarship followed by UND. He served four years in the Army National Guard. He most recently graduated from the Denver School of Massage Therapy in 2010. Brian was employed by Creative Illuminations, Inc. in Denver, CO, until he became ill in July 2010. Brian had a big heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was a great father and loved spending time with his two daughters, Megan and Erika. They were his pride and joy. Brian enjoyed playing basketball and watching sports. His favorite teams included the Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and Green Bay Packers. He still continued his longtime hobby of collecting baseball cards. He is survived by his mother, Judy Yoney, Grand Forks, ND; daughters Megan and Erika Yoney, Highlands Ranch, CO; a sister, Darcie (Todd) Arend, San Antonio, TX; grandmother, Irene Yoney, Lakota, ND; nieces Kayla Skinner, Emily Arend, and Ashley Skinner; nephews Bobby Arend, Cody Arend, Cory Arend, Tyler Skinner, and Logan Arend; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Brian is preceded in death by his father, Richard Yoney, grandfathers William Yoney and Oscar Kinneberg, and grandmother Laura Kinneberg. Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: will be in Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, North Dakota.
